A futuristic story about bounty hunters - that's Keanu Reeves' next project, Cowboy Bepop. Keanu reunites with 20th Century Fox, the same outfit the produced the worldwide hit, The Day the Earth Stood Still.
While movie fans might think that Keanu Reeves is in a sci-fi roll, the trend will be broken by his next movie to hit the silver screen, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. This movie is a drama and Keanu Reeves isn't assuming the lead role either. It's a refreshing change from his usual Matrix-inspired characters though. Here, Keanu plays the love interest of Winona Ryder, whom he previously worked with in the film Bram Stoker's Dracula. The movie is in post production and is expected to be released in the first half of this year.
Right now, Keanu is busy with Cowboy Bepop, an adaptation of the hit Japanese anime series of the same title. Keanu will play Spike Spiegel, the leader of a group of bounty hunters who previously has ties with an underground, notorious group. Now, that group is out to take him. Keanu said that the screenplay is still in the works and they're still deliberating which part of the original story they would work on.
Keanu Reeves is also rumored to do 47 Rounin, another Japanese-inspired story. This one is more an epic story though. Unlike his futuristic characters, his role here would require him to wear the Japanese garb and take is audience back to 1700's. However, this movie is still on the works. Whether Keanu will work on it or not isn't definite yet. But even if it's a go, filming may not start up until the latter part of the year.
Keanu is also considered for the Jack Traven role. Although he had said he won't be back for Speed 3, maybe Sandra would make him change his mind. Let's just wait and see.
